About Alloomba

Alloomba is the name given to the property when the homestead was built in 1901 for Mr and Mrs Arthur Edgar Castles.

Mr Castles was quite a remarkable man. He held all 3 positions of Engineer, Secretary and Treasurer on the Shire of Deakin from about 1893 for 37 years.
He was also a talented architect and ran his business from Tongala.

He married Elspet Murray on June 1st 1897 . Built Alloomba in 1901 and they lived here until his death in 1933.
Many Balls, Tennis Days and Tea Parties were held here at Alloomba to raise funds to go towards the upkeep of the Town Hall and other projects of Mr Castles in the district.

Alloomba has endured many changes and different owners over the years.  The current owners Cindy and Dale would like to share some of its beauty and history with you.
